After long due from my previous post (been busy really...err..lack of idea, maybe), here is another update on my system.
From my previous post I've mentioned on intention to fully setup my TT. Well, I have to say that my plan was postponed to indefinite time. I've sold my TT!...will make a come back with a better one, but not so soon.
Due to that, I was searching for better cd player to compensate my "lost in translation" in music reproduction. Few players was being considered like Naim CD5x, Rega Apollo, Cyrus..(I'm still in budget/beginner territory) until I came to this beautifully built, in excellent condition, with minimal used of Musical Fidelity A5 belong to a Doctor.
Before I take the plunged (not too deep to many audio enthusiast), I've read comments and reviews about this player and all are glowing. I know "trust your ears" but I can't do that as the player were up north of peninsular Malaysia and bringing down to KL is considered a confirmed deal. I have to be fair to the seller as well.
So, how does it sounds in my system?. Well...definitely better than my budget player and my research on info, reading on opinions, reviews are all matched on positive side. It was made for only 1500 units world wide on limited edition and it was being awarded the best CD player under USD5000 by Absolute Sound. It uses 6112 tubes at output stage for nice, valve quality of sounds and it can runs up to 100,000 hours and I already got a pair of them for backup.
Base on my regular music that I have listen to, it shows improvements at its best and now I can put a smile back on my face...:).
p/s: pic taken from google and I picked particularly this one as it has Dire Straits cd on the tray....hahahaha.
Hi
ReplyDeleteDoes the Druids really need a subwoofer?
Do you still using anti ICs?
BTW i still have your silver streak and it serves me well...
Druids doesn't really needs a sub, its rated at 35hz down but if you need the "extra"..why not. Anyway, that is just plan as I can enjoy as it is at the moment.
ReplyDeleteAnti I/c?..never used it...:)
Silver Streak?...Maju Junction?
35Hz is big...I got 44Hz and it more than enough depends on the amps....
ReplyDeleteNever use Anti IC???? then what's from the last setup reviews...??? There's anti IC mentioned.
Silver Streak...maju junction yes long time still remember....
Yup, I remember you...still keeping those pair eh...:)it's great actually but too short for me.
ReplyDeleteWhich review on anti i/c?..or is it anti cable?
would appreciate if you could copy paste the line with anti I/C so that I can make correction. Btw, how do you know this is my blog?..:)

ReplyDeleteLook here...http://sting-journey.blogspot.com/2009/05/hi-fi-equipments-update.html
ReplyDeletebottom page. I guess you used to have an anti speaker cable not anti I/C. Sorry for the typo. So the magnet cable didn't suite your previous setup???
You have a very intriguing setups and music taste. Cash, Jeff Buckley, Anthony and the johnson, Nick Cave...not a very typical stereo type audiophiles tunes who always listen to Jazz and vocals music. A very American taste I would say. That's good. I start to listen to Nick Cave and Anthony and the johnson and it's a good album. Now listening to Tom Waits Kentucky Avenue...BTW who made your diy preamp?
How do I know about this blog....??? I have a plenty of time front of the computer, I guess I was lucky... Maybe one day we could have a listen to your fantastic setups...
ahhh...I guess so you've mistaken with anti cable...:)
ReplyDeleteMy friend made my DIY pre and all parts used are high quality. Parts alone cost around RM2500, not inclusive NOS tube (siemens/Valvo).
I would recommend Ryan Adams and Rufus wainwright for you too. They are great song writers and singers.
you're so lucky to have a very nice setups...
ReplyDeleteimho a passive tube diy preamp doesn't need to be expensive even using a boutique parts since all that can be purchase online for a lower cost. that's why i'm more into diy rather than to commercial brands.
thank for the recommendation. will look into it..
Those parts are obtained from Japan mostly, before the currency went up so high. IMHO, those parts are still cheap and even the RM15K pre amp (copied design to my DIY) doesn't use these expensive parts.
ReplyDeleteI have had compared to few preamps, but this one still in the setup chain.
solid looking gear you have there mate. but in my not so humble opinion, a decent mid-priced TT would easily trounced that but since like youve already mention, this is only a transition phase.
ReplyDeleteall in all, have an enjoyable listening session and to be quite honest with you, i wouldn't mind that in my system. which is currently, no system to talk about of..hehehheh (still in Sabbatical)
he..he primadonna124... I'm waiting for your 124 to complete my setup
